Our Smart Probe range caters to businesses that need tools to help them measure air flow velocity, temperature and gas flow. A large portion of our audience uses Smart Probes to diagnose challenges with HVAC and refrigeration applications, using their smartphone to record data and pinpoint, identify and remedy issues as they arise. The probes also pair over Bluetooth with our Refrigeration Manifolds, so temperature, vacuum and pressure readings all arrive in the same measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Testo Smart Probes used for?

Smart Probes are compact measuring instruments that pair with a phone or tablet over Bluetooth and run through the free Testo Smart Probes App. The range covers temperature, pressure, humidity and flow, so one set of probes handles heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation work: the 115i clamp thermometer, 549i high pressure probe, 605i thermohygrometer, 405i and 410i anemometers, 510i differential pressure probe, 805i infrared thermometer and 552i vacuum probe

Can one app show readings from more than one probe at a time?

Yes. The Testo Smart Probes App displays several probes together, shows the measurement as a graph or a table, and logs the data. Two 605i thermohygrometers will determine cooling or heating performance across a system, and the app calculates dewpoint and wet bulb temperature automatically.

How far can I be from a probe and still read it?

The current generation probes, including the 115i, 549i, 605i and 552i, have a Bluetooth range of up to 100 m. That means a probe can stay on a rooftop unit or at a distant measuring point while you read it from where you are working. 

What does my phone need to run the Smart Probes App?

The app is a free download and needs iOS 8.3 or later, or Android 4.3 or later, with Bluetooth 4.0. 

Can I buy Smart Probes as a kit rather than one at a time?

Yes. There are ready-made sets for heating, refrigeration and VAC work, and the HVAC/R Ultimate Kit brings the temperature, pressure, humidity and flow probes together in one case. Matching Smart Cases are sold separately if you build a kit up over time. The 915i temperature kit comes with air, immersion and penetration, and surface probes, all TC Type K Class 1, and it also takes standard type K thermocouple probes, so probes you already own still have a use.
