Non Contact Infrared Thermometers

Non Contact Infrared Thermometers

ALL PRICES ARE EXCLUSIVE OF GST

Our infrared thermometers help you measure temperatures without contact, and with cutting edge optics running from 10:1 up to 50:1 you can be confident the reading covers the spot you are aiming at. Where a contact reading is needed instead, our Compact Class instruments cover TC Type K temperature measurement.

The gun style design of our infrared thermometers makes them easy to use, so you can capture the data you need without thinking about it. For a picture of a whole surface rather than a single spot, take a look at our Thermal Imaging Cameras.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the optics ratio on an infrared thermometer mean?

It is the ratio between the distance to the object and the size of the spot being measured. The 830-T1 is 10:1, the 830-T2 is 12:1 and the 830-T4 is 30:1, while the 835-T1 and 835-T2 are both 50:1. A higher ratio measures a smaller spot from the same distance, which is what lets the 835 models read a small target from further back.

Which model do I need for high temperature work?

The 830-T1, 830-T2 and 830-T4 all measure from -30 to +400 °C. The 835-T1 extends to +600 °C. The 835-T2 covers -10 to +1500 °C, with resolution of 0.1 °C up to +999.9 °C and 1 °C above that, which makes it the model for furnace, kiln and similar process work.

Can the same instrument take a contact measurement?

On several models, yes. The 830-T2 and 830-T4 accept an optional TC Type K probe covering -50 to +500 °C, and the 835-T1 also takes a connectable TC Type K (NiCr-Ni) probe. The Fast Action Surface Probe sold on this page is a Type K probe with a sprung thermocouple strip, which gives a fast response and reads on uneven surfaces.

How do I set the instrument for different surface materials?

Surfaces radiate heat differently, so the emissivity setting has to match the material. The 830-T1 is adjustable from 0.2 to 1.0, and the 830-T2 and 830-T4 both have an adjustable emission level. The 835-T1 and 835-T2 carry a built in emissivity table of 20 values, so you select the material rather than entering a figure.

Can I save readings and get them off the instrument?

The 835-T1 and 835-T2 store 200 measuring values and are supplied with PC software, and both run on three AA batteries or over USB while connected to the software. The 830 series has no measurement memory, so readings are recorded on site. The 830-T1 holds minimum and maximum values on the display.
